Frequently Asked Questions

1. As a returning user, what if I forget my username or password?

If you have already logged on to the CCV at least once and captured your reminder questions, you can use the "Forgot Username" and "Forgot Password" to help you retrieve the information. If you cannot remember your reminder questions, please contact CIHR Contact Centre.

2. Can I make changes to my CCV after I press "Submit"?

Once you press "Submit" within the CCV system, this CV submission is stored as-is. You cannot make any changes to the PDF submission; however, you can make the desired revisions within the CV template, and then re-submit your CV.

3. When would I complete the Generic CV?

It is not necessary to complete the Generic CV. The Generic CV serves as the repository for all entered data; any information entered in Funding CVs appears in the Generic CV and remains available if you wish to apply to another funding opportunity or another agency. Each funding organization has a specific CCV template, and completing that CV will focus your efforts on providing only the information required for application to a specific funding opportunity.

4. Can I import publications using the PubMed ID (PMID)? Can I import more than one publication at a time?

Yes, publications can be imported using the PMID, and you may import multiple PubMed articles at once using the instructions provided below:

5. What other sources can I use to import my publications in bulk?

CCV has a functionality that allows users to import their publications into the CCV using sources other than PubMed. The following sources can be used in CCV:

6. How do I import my publications from locations other than PubMed?

To import publications from locations other than PubMed (e.g. Google Scholar, Web of Science, etc.), you will need a file containing the bibliographic information from that site in BibTeX format. Save the file in a location where you can retrieve it when prompted by the CCV.

7. Can I pick and choose the entries I want to submit in my CV to the funding organization without deleting the entries?

Yes. You should never need to delete any information from the CCV. Only those records that are 'checked' (i.e., selected) for submission, will be included in the PDF version of your CV.

8. How do I select which entries I want to submit in my CV to the funding organization?

To select entries to submit with your CV, simply click on the checkbox in the "Submit?" column. If you un-check the box, the entry will not be submitted with your CV.
